About Bon Secour, AL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Bon Secour, Alabama is located in Baldwin County. This unincorporated community sits on the eastern coast of Bon Secour Bay, and its name translates to “safe harbor” due to the community’s secluded location in southern Alabama on the inner coast of the Fort Morgan peninsula. The Baldwin County Public Schools system serves the area, but students will travel to nearby Foley to attend classes. This beachfront town has been impacted dramatically by Hurricanes Frederic, Ivan, and Katrina, and in 2010, the Deepwater Horizon oil sill decimated the Gulf shrimping business, so many people who worked in the fishing industry lost their livelihood.
Bon Secour is a small community, so there are few attractions located here. The Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge does call the area home, and there are several authentic seafood shacks available for visitors to try. More notable attractions can be found in neighboring Gulf Shores, where visitors can check out the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, the Gulf Shores Golf Club, and Fort Morgan.
Residents typically agree that the weather is one of the best reasons for living in Bon Secour and the surrounding areas. The climate is typical of a humid subtropical zone with hot and humid summer months. Temperatures usually reach the 90s, and without a home air conditioning or cooling system, residents could be at risk of experiencing heat-related illnesses or injuries. A properly functioning air conditioner can also help to purify the air by removing dust and allergens before they circulate through your home.
Northerners often travel to this region of Alabama during the winter as a way to escape frigid temperatures. Conditions in Bon Secour are generally mild with temperatures in the low 50s. Winters are short, but a few days of freezing temperatures do occur, so residents will need to have a home heating system in place in addition to their air conditioner.
